Lisa Loughran’s Fundraiser
Benefitting: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Inc.
Event Fundraiser: 2021 America's Shamrock Run
This is the fundraising page for TEAM HOLY COW, Lisa and PB have joined forces and challenged TEAM JAKE AND ROGER to see which team can raise more funds for St. Jude's Hospital for children. JAKE was a child patient of St. Jude's and received groundbreaking treatment for his brain tumor. Jake is now 22 years of age and here is his story:
In 2000, Jake was diagnosed with Anaplastic Ependymoma, an aggressive cancerous brain tumor. Following the surgery to remove the brain tumor, doctors gave Jake a 30% chance of survival. After learning about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s ground-breaking clinical treatment trial which was yielding 80% survival rates, his family decided that St. Jude offered the most hopeful treatment option. Jake lived at Ronald McDonald house in Memphis, Tennessee while receiving stereotactic radiation, as opposed to the standard chemotherapy of the time. Stereotactic radiation, along with higher survival rates, would offer a better long-term quality of life. In 2016 Jake “graduated†from St. Jude as a childhood cancer survivor. Jake is a 2016 Red Hook High School graduate and went on to pursue a degree in Broadcast Journalism at SUNY Oswego and is currently pursuing career options as a Sports Broadcaster.
The challenge is on between TEAM HOLY COW and TEAM JAKE AND ROGER competing to raise the most funds for St. Jude’s Hospital for children. Who do you think will win? Help us out by donating here.
